The Living Waters Association's Lay Studies Team will offer a course on the New Testament book of Hebrews this summer. The course will be taught by the Rev. George Norton, Jr., Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Montour Falls, NY. Pastor Norton will teach class sessions on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer, beginning on June 29th and ending on August 30th. The course will meet at the First Baptist Church of Montour Falls (221 W. South Street). The course involves presentations and discussions of the theology of Hebrews as well as an in-depth look at certain texts within the book.

 

Students will benefit from this course spiritually as well as growing in their knowledge of Scripture. Many take courses like this for personal enrichment. Some take such courses to enhance ministry or leadership skills.

 

Students will read two textbooks during the course--which they should purchase for themselves before the course begins. The first is Donald A. Hagner's book Hebrews (Hendrickson, 1990); the second is F. F. Bruce's book The Epistle to the Hebrews (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1988+). Students should find the second revised edition of the text by F. F. Bruce; the original edition was published in 1964. Both books will cost under $40.00, depending on the source.

 

The course itself costs $60.00 if taken for "credit" in our Biblical Institute program. Students taking a course for credit often complete written assignments, presentations, or projects related to the course. Students who would prefer to audit the course can do so for $30.00 for all ten class sessions or for $3.00 per session. If two persons from the same family take the course for credit, there's a discounted price of $45.00 per person.

This is the fifth course the Living Waters Association has offered in its Biblical Institute program, which began in the summer of 2007. The Association's Lay Studies Team plans to offer at least one course each year in this program.
