Becoming A Christian
It is God’s desire, and ours, that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He loves each one of us, but our sin has spiritually separated us from God. The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." 1 It also says, "The wages of sin is death..." 2 This means eternal separation from God. However, Jesus Christ, God’s Son, paid the price of our sin on the cross in our place. "But God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us." 3 Jesus paid the price we cannot afford to pay and has provided both salvation and restored fellowship with God as a free gift. "The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” 4
When we receive Jesus Christ, by faith, as our Lord and Savior, we receive His forgiveness and become a member of God’s family. "To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." 5
This is how you can receive Christ as your Lord and Savior.
1. Admit your need. (I am a sinner.)
2. Repent. (Be willing to turn from your sin.)
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross, fully paid for your sin and rose from the dead.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your life as your Lord and Savior.
You can pray something like this:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. Amen."
This is a prayer that God will hear and answer when someone sincerely means it.
